Spo(r)tlights on Hamburger Straße

The Eintracht Stadium. Home not only to Eintracht Braunschweig. The New Yorker Lions, one of the most successful American football teams in Germany, are also at home here.

The stadium on Hamburger Straße is the largest athletics stadium in Lower Saxony and an acclaimed venue for numerous national and international competitions. Most recently, Braunschweig presented top athletics with the European Championships of the national teams on 21st and 22nd June, 2014: In the Lion City’s Eintracht stadium, the men and women of the twelve best national teams in Europe competed against one another in 20 disciplines respectively.

26,000 spectators celebrated European athletics and the German team at the European Team Championships: Having already won in 2009, the German national athletics team was able to win the European Team Championships for the second time.

The stadium, however, offers the best framework not only for sporting events but also for concerts: During his tour in 2015, Herbert Grönemeyer rocked the Eintracht Stadium. The "temple" is superbly suited for concerts; through the modification of the “Nordkurve” grandstand, the conditions have been optimised even further.
